Download Twitter (X) videos

Twitter is now called X, and its video links work the same way. VidYoink saves videos and GIFs from public X posts as MP4 files. Paste a post link from x.com or twitter.com, then choose HD or SD.

How to download a Twitter (X) video

  1. 1

    Copy the post's link

On the post with the video, tap Share, then Copy link. The link contains /status/ followed by a long number.

  2. 2

    Paste it into VidYoink

Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and tap Download. Links from x.com and twitter.com both work.

  3. 3

    Pick a quality

Tap HD or SD. A label like 720p is the video's shorter side, so a tall phone video is labelled by its width.

Which X links work?

  • Posts with a video (x.com/…/status/…)
  • Posts with a GIF, saved as an MP4 video
  • Posts with several videos, listed as Video 1, Video 2 and so on
  • Older twitter.com links

Protected accounts, deleted posts, live broadcasts, Spaces and age-restricted posts can't be saved. A video that only appears as a link to another website isn't stored on X, so there's nothing to save. Please only save videos you posted or have the creator's permission to save.

Twitter (X) video questions

Do Twitter GIFs work?

Yes. X keeps GIFs as short videos, so they save as MP4 files.

What if a post has several videos?

VidYoink lists each one as Video 1, Video 2 and so on, each with its own quality buttons.

Why is there no HD button?

X only keeps the sizes a video was uploaded in. When a post has just one size, VidYoink shows one button for it.

Do I need an X account?

No. VidYoink never asks for your X login and works with public posts only.

Why won't my X video download?

The account may be protected, the post may be deleted, or the video may be age-restricted. Our guide explains each reason and what to try.

Can I save the sound as an MP3?

No. VidYoink saves the full video as an MP4 file and has no audio-only option.
