How to save Facebook videos on Android

On Android, saving a Facebook video goes straight to your Downloads folder, where it shows up in your Files and Gallery apps. This guide covers the normal copy-and-paste flow in Chrome and a faster way using Android's Share menu.

Please only save videos you own or that the creator has allowed you to keep, and respect their copyright when you use them.

Step 1: Copy the video link

Any kind of Facebook video link works: watch links, reels, share links and fb.watch short links.

  1. In the Facebook app, open the video or reel.
  2. Tap Share (the arrow icon). On reels it's on the right side of the screen.
  3. Tap Copy link.

Step 2: Paste into VidYoink in Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and go to vidyoink.com.
  2. Tap Paste. If Chrome asks to see your clipboard, please allow it. You can also long-press the link box and tap Paste.
  3. VidYoink looks the video up straight away and shows the results card below the box.

Step 3: Choose a quality and download

HD gives the sharpest picture; SD is smaller and quicker on mobile data. VidYoink only lists files that include sound.

  1. Tap the HD or SD button.
  2. Chrome shows a message when the download finishes. Tap Open to play the video.

Step 4: Find the video later

Chrome saves files to the Download folder on your phone. You can find the video in several places:

  1. Open the Files app (or Files by Google) and tap Downloads.
  2. Or open your Gallery or Photos app and look for a Download album.
  3. Or in Chrome, tap ⋮ → Downloads to see everything Chrome has saved.

Faster: use the Share menu

If you install VidYoink as an app (tap Install at the top of the page when it appears), it appears in Android's Share menu. Then you can skip copying and pasting entirely.

  1. In the Facebook app, tap Share on the video.
  2. Tap More (or scroll the app list) and choose VidYoink.
  3. VidYoink opens and looks the video up automatically. Tap the quality you want.

Tips for smoother downloads

A few small habits make saving videos on Android quicker and more reliable, especially if you save clips often.

  1. Use Wi-Fi for long HD videos, which can be tens of megabytes.
  2. Keep Chrome up to date from the Play Store so downloads and the Share menu behave as expected.
  3. If a download stalls, tap Cancel, then tap the quality button again.
  4. When you're done with one video, tap Download another video on the results card. The page goes back to the top with an empty link box, ready for the next link.

If the video plays instead of downloading

Please use your browser's download or save option.

Quick questions

Where did my download go?

Check Files → Downloads, or in Chrome tap ⋮ → Downloads. Most Gallery apps also show a Download album.

VidYoink isn't in my Share menu.

The Share option only appears after VidYoink is installed to your home screen from Chrome. Open the Share menu's More list if you still don't see it.

Does this use a lot of data?

The video downloads directly from Facebook. SD files are much smaller than HD, so choose SD on mobile data.

Ready to try it? Paste your link on the home page.
