Facebook uses several kinds of links for videos, and they can look confusing. VidYoink accepts all of them. This guide explains what each link looks like and how to copy it.
Remember to only save videos you own or have the creator's permission to save.
Watch links
Classic Facebook videos often use a watch link such as facebook.com/watch?v=1234567890 or a page video link like facebook.com/PageName/videos/1234567890. The number is the video's ID. You'll mostly see these when copying from a computer.
Reel links
Reels are short vertical videos. Their links look like facebook.com/reel/1234567890. VidYoink treats them like any other video and offers HD or SD where Facebook provides a complete file with sound.
Share links: /share/v/ and /share/r/
When you tap Share → Copy link in the Facebook app, you'll usually get a share link like facebook.com/share/v/AbC123xyz/ (for videos) or facebook.com/share/r/AbC123xyz/ (for reels). These are short codes that redirect to the real post. VidYoink follows the redirect safely, staying on Facebook, to find the video.
fb.watch short links
fb.watch links, such as fb.watch/abcDEF123/, are Facebook's own short links for videos. They also redirect to the full post, and VidYoink handles them the same way.
Which link is best?
For VidYoink it doesn't matter. Every Facebook video link leads to the same post and the same files. Share links from the app are the easiest to get on a phone. Watch and reel links are handy on a computer because you can copy them straight from the address bar. If you're sending a link to someone else, any of them will open the same video for them too.
One tip: when you copy from a computer, make sure you've opened the video on its own page first. Copying the address while scrolling your news feed gives you the feed's address, not the video's.
How to copy each kind
- In the Facebook app: tap Share under the video (on the right for reels), then Copy link. You'll get a share link.
- In a phone browser: tap ⋯ or Share on the post, then Copy link.
- On a computer: click the video's timestamp or open it in its own page, then copy the address from the address bar. You'll get a watch, video or reel link.
- Paste any of these into VidYoink. The lookup starts as soon as you paste.
Links that won't work
Links to private posts, friends-only videos, closed groups and live streams can't be looked up. A link to a Facebook profile or page (rather than a specific video) won't work either. Please open the video itself and copy its link.
Quick questions
Does VidYoink accept m.facebook.com links?
Yes. Mobile and desktop Facebook addresses both work, as do fb.watch and fb.com links.
I pasted a whole message, not just the link.
That's fine. VidYoink finds the Facebook link inside the text you paste.
Can I paste the same link twice?
Yes. Repeat lookups of the same post are often faster.
Why does my share link look different every time?
Facebook creates a new share code each time you copy, but they all point to the same video.
